A Place for Making

The Sculptural Studies Building (SSB) at AVA Gallery & Art Center is a dynamic space dedicated to three-dimensional artmaking. Located just behind the main AVA galleries in Lebanon, New Hampshire, this studio facility supports hands-on work in ceramics, woodworking, and metalworking.


Designed for both teaching and professional practice, the SSB houses specialized equipment, open work areas, and studio space where students and artists can explore material, scale, and technique. It is an active hub of making at AVA—where sparks fly, tools hum, and ideas take physical form.

New Sculptural Studies Building Membership

With the Maker/Mentor membership, AVA has created the opportunity for multidisciplinary artists to use our wood shop, metal shop, and ceramics studio for one monthly or annual membership fee. Now, as long as you are a member who has demonstrated competence on our tools ("tested out" in the shop), they may move freely between the shops. Training classes and testing sessions subject to rates and availability.

It's Easy to Become a Part of our Growing Community

After signing up with AVA as a Maker/Mentor membership, these are your next steps:


  1. You will have access to your new member portal. Simply log in and update your contact information.
  2. Schedule a one-hour New Member Orientation, your opportunity to meet staff and learn more about AVA.
  3. During orientation, you will schedule a safety and skills test, which is required before using the studios.
  4. Learn more about The Bank Street Gallery and how you can show and sell your work through our vibrant retail space and have a presence on our website.
