Volunteers Shape the Visitor Experience, Every Day.
Every week, volunteers keep AVA humming in ways large and small. Some show up once to weed our gardens or freshen paint. Others are here every week, greeting visitors, staffing our retail shop, or lending a hand in the studios. A few bring special talents that show up exactly when we need them — a musican at the right moment, a photographer at an opening, a baker who nailed desert.
Volunteer Opportunities
There's no single way to volunteer at AVA, and that's the point. Whether you've got an hour or a standing Tuesday, a specialized trade or a willingness to learn, there's something here that needs what you bring. And in return, you get to be part of the thing that makes this place work — a community that shows up for each other.

Hosts and Greeters
Be the “face” of AVA at our front desk and in the Members’ Gallery, welcoming visitors, answering questions, and showing folks around.

Event Support
Set up tables and chairs, set up audio-visual equipment, greet guests, serve food and drink— make everyone feel welcome at every AVA event.

Gallery Assistance
AVA's galleries require frequent changeout of artwork. Help with painting and patching gallery walls, creating signage and labels, and other routine, light gallery tasks.

Classroom Assistant
We always appreciate extra help with classroom monitoring, technical support, and general assistance. Volunteers who wish to work with children must undergo a background check.

Studio Support
Help maintain our classrooms and workshops including ceramics, woodworking, and metal. Activities include sorting and organizing supplies, light cleaning, and inventorying tools and supplies.

Special Projects
Volunteering made to order—small tasks when you're available. Things like painting, gardening, and light facilities care and maintenance are always appreciated!

Every day, with every smile and helping hand, AVA volunteers channel the arts to help make the Upper Valley a better place to be. From the design and painting of a "craft library" to the care of our gardens, creating set pieces for special events to checking in event guests—AVA volunteers help us thrive, hour by hour and day by day.
