Linda Roesch Visual Art Gallery
Named for longtime AVA board chair, member, and practicing artist Linda Roesch, this is the first gallery you encounter when you walk through AVA's front door — and it sets a wonderful tone for everything else that you'll find at AVA. The Linda Roesch Visual Arts Gallery hosts a rotating program of curated and community exhibitions, from solo shows by regional artists to large-scale group projects that have featured as many as sixty makers on the walls at once. Exhibitions change monthly. If you haven't been in a while, you'll want to drop in for an event or opening to see what's new. This space is available to book for special events.
Main Galleries
The Rebecca Lawrence Gallery, Clifford B. West Gallery, Wennberg Gallery, and Elizabeth Rowland Mayor Gallery form the heart of AVA's exhibition program. Spread across the first floor of the Carter-Kelsey Building — a 19th-century mill with hardwood floors, exposed beams, and the kind of natural light artists crave — these four spaces host a curated year-round schedule of solo and group exhibitions by living artists from across New England and beyond. Shows are paired with intention: artists are placed in dialogue with one another across rooms, so a visit to one gallery pulls you into the next. With nearly thirty exhibitions opening each year, the program moves fast — there's always a reason to come back. This space is available to book for special events.
Bank Street Gallery
The Bank Street Gallery puts the work of over 200 AVA artist members front and center. Every piece in the Bank Street Gallery was made by a working artist from the Upper Valley and who is also a supporting member of AVA Gallery. Original paintings, pottery, jewelry, prints, woodcraft, textiles, and more — things you won't see in anyone else's home. A rotating spotlight artist keeps the walls fresh; a large collection of printed work keeps prices starting well under $100. Best of all, every purchase you make puts money directly in an artist's hands. Your first original piece by your next favorite artist — come find the upgrade your walls have been waiting for. Artist members may apply for a show on the spotlight wall at any time.
Gallery Three
Three floors up from the main galleries, Gallery Three is an exhibition space curated and maintained by AVA's community of studio artists. They curate it, maintain it, and decide what goes on the walls — their own work, collaborative projects, or exhibitions with artists they invite in from outside the building. It's the closest thing to an artist-run space inside an institution: no committee, no proposal process, just working artists making decisions about how their work meets the public. If you want to see what the people who make art here every day think is worth showing, take the stairs or the elevator to the third floor.
