Airbrush "Dust" Technique

William Scavone

New   S10A24

July 20
Tuesday, 6:30-9:30pm
One 3-hour class
Tuition: $45 /members; $65 /non-members
Class limited to 10. Materials list provided.

Airbrush "dust" is a technique invented by medical illustrators to replicate the carbon dust technique (see Carbon-Dust Technique) when the materials for carbon dust were scarce. The airbrush "dust" technique utilizes lamp black watercolor pigment, blown through an airbrush, combined with plastic film pencils and erasers to make richly toned illustrations for display or reproduction. Students will learn how to make re-usable friskets out of acetate to transform their sketch into a finished illustration. Only a basic knowledge of airbrush is necessary; most of the rendering is done in pencil.
