Learning by doing will let one plan a sculpture in stone, starting with the preliminary drawings and a plastiline maquette. Working with colored alabaster and soapstone uncovers unexpected beauties within the natural rock such as veining. Students will use stone, hammers, chisels, rasps, files, sandpaper and water, chamois and polish.
