Opening Reception: Friday, February 29, 5 – 7pm
Watercolor is the prevailing theme of AVA Gallery and Art Center’s February – March exhibitions, where three of the four gallery spaces in AVA’s newly renovated building will be devoted to this popular and expressive medium.
Vermont Watercolor Society (VWS) will present a Signature Members’ Show in the Clifford B. West Gallery from February 22 through March 22, 2008. A reception, free and open to the public, will take place Friday, February 29, from 5 to 7pm.
Founded in 1995 by a small group of dedicated watercolorists, the goal of the society is to expand the appreciation of the watercolor medium in all its various forms. Today, the society has 130 members and continues to grow.
A member achieves “signature” status by successfully entering three different paintings in three different VWS juried shows over the course of five years. A signature member is entitled to put “VWS” after their name on their artwork. The society currently has 61 signature members, many of them from the Upper Valley, including Isobel Cochran, Annette Compton, Cynthia Crawford, Nancy Dean, Adrienne Fisk, Debbie Hamilton, Owen Hamilton, Sandra Hayward, Victoria Shalvah Herzberg, Judy Laliberte, Kate More, Josephine Tate, and Everett Webber.
