Building on your previous experience, you will explore the formal and conceptual issues that inform all painting. Ultimately, you will develop a growing understanding of and greater fluency in the visual and material vocabulary of painting, as well as an ongoing awareness of your own artistic and aesthetic concerns in a supportive, exploratory atmosphere. We will experiment with a variety of conceptual, material, and formal approaches to broaden your sense of the possibilities in painting. In addition, we will offer each other constructive criticism on a serious, engaged level that supports students’ development as artists.
